MORE ABOUT ME...

I joined this wiki because: I recovered from RSI / TMS in October 2005. My story here:
http://tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1322

My favourite TMS-related books:

"Healing Back Pain" by Dr John Sarno -
easier to read than the later books, and has a useful daily reminder list
"They Can't Find Anything Wrong!" by Dr David Clarke
- jargon-free, very easy to read. Many of the case-studies are related to Dr Clarke's specialism, which happens to be
gastroenterology, but the principles are the same as in Dr Sarno's books.

"You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay - great for changing one's thought patterns in a more positive direction, which I really do believe can have an effect one one's health
"The Journey" by Brandon Bays
- a lay person's approach to discovering the emotions underlying physical or mental illness

"Nonviolent Communication"
by Marshall Rosenberg - not about illness or TMS, but about learning to communicate by expressing one's feelings and needs. If we learned how to do that from an early age, perhaps we wouldn't get TMS!

"Being Genuine - Stop Being Nice, Start Being Real" by Thomas d'Ansembourg
- based on Marshall Rosenberg's nvc methods. A message for the goodists among us!
"Growing Yourself Back Up - Understanding Emotional Regression" by John Lee
"Facing the Fire" by John Lee
"The New Primal Scream" by Dr Arthur Janov
"Self Analysis" by Karen Horney My comments here
"Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Pert
- a scientist who researched the "molecules of emotion" and found that they were prevalent not just in the nervous system but in other systems in the body such as the immune system. It blew my mind because I had always thought the mind/body connection happened through the nervous system whereas in fact she found there is a much closer connection.

"The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd -
actually, it's a novel. I read it while on holiday, Christmas 2008. I loved this book! Her descriptions of the emotions were really powerful and often had a physical element - hence the vague connection with TMS!

Posts and quotes I like:

WWMICD (What Would My Inner Child Do?)
(Second post by Penny on this page).
Scottydog / Anne's comment on goodism:
"One thing I have learned about myself since discovering TMS is that I am a nasty, selfish, self centred, lazy individual who hates having to waste her time on other human beings - be it relatives, neighbours or people I deal with at work. I am obliged to do it but since discovering my real self do not do it any more than I have to and make sure I have lots of nice me time for the things I like in life.

The result is a much more reasonable, calm, happy person (actually pleasanter for the relatives, neighbours and workmates to deal with).
"
...
"There are often posts here blaming the goodist / perfectionist nature of TMSers for their problems - I think the goodist is just a nastyist who isn't admitting their true feelings."
...
"I just suspect that we are all selfish individuals deep down and would be better able to cope if we could admit that." (Scottydog/Anne)

Hi Hilary, I don’t have classic migraine but have found a distinct dull headache/broken sleep pattern identifies to closely with the Mediclim alerts to be coincidence, also that of other family members. Molecules of emotion sounds a bit like Richard Dawkins Meme theory, what do you think?
Do you find this valuable?
