TMS Discussion ThreadsThe following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.- Can we agree on a name for this syndrome?: I like Psychophysiologic Disorder, too, but many of us have concluded we don't want to label people with anything that includes the "psycho" term. Somatic Stress Disorder seems to be a good blend of what would be acceptable to the public and the medical profession.
- Agreeing on the physiology of mind-body syndromes: Regardless of the actual physiology (and I think this will be argued for many, many years to come) I have found relief with my current methodology which is endorsed by both Dr. Sarno and Dr. Schubiner (and I think it still fits under Dr. Pert's ideas) and that is being mindful and living in the moment.
- Returned to work, a step in the right direction: The way i see it, "cure" is RSI no longer having any impact on your life. And going back to work is a massive massive step in the right direction. Indeed, i wouldn't be too hung up on the metric of "pain" - using the metric of "impact on life" is a better measure of progress...
- Back pain, disc extrusions treatable using Sarno’s TMS?: I have let go of some of the fear but not all of it. I do believe that positive thoughts and belief in TMS will cure me. Its like the 1 motrin I allow myself a day. I take it in the middle of the day and it has the effects as if I took a vicodin. Crazy.
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Somatic Stress Disorder: What I am wondering is how important to you patients' recovery you have found it to be that they actually believe that there is no structural cause to their illness, ie does it significantly impede their recovery if they still think there may be a physical cause that is exacerbated by stress?
