TMS Discussion Threads
The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.

  • Back pain returned: I can honestly say after reading a couple of Sarno's books that I do have a fear of getting old/dying. I saw my first wife die at an early age and now as I get older (41) I get more and more focussed on my aches and pains and their possible causes.

  • MRI shows a bulging disc, could it be TMS?: Mostly I feel these thoughts are increasing my back pain. I read somewhere that when you have a flare up you should try to think of a repressed bad memory or emotion, so as to tell your brain that the pain isn't doing the trick, it's not distracting you.

  • Writing about feelings: If this tension, this rage is meant to be unconscious, how come some of us actually know the source already? I too have felt that I have eaten some of my worms (thanks Tiger for this lovely metaphor) only to find they've reincarnated themselves.

  • Any phrases, affirmations that help others recover?: When I had flare ups I just used to say stuff like this: "Right, there's nothing wrong with me physically, I KNOW that, so what's going on emotionally...work?...family?...finances?"...etc? Until I'd hit on something and suspect it might be that.

  • TMS Victim, on my way to recovery: There is no way that I could have developed real RSI, if there even is such a thing, in only three days. A 2nd thing, this last monday my pain was almost gone altogether, and it was weird because I had a huge headache that day as well.

I have had TMS since 1994; occassionally, I am painfree for years -- have been battling it for the past 2 1/2 years. This week I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)....I am wondering did TMS cause me to get GAD; or did GAD cause the TMS? I just know that they both make me feel BAD.:-(
