TMS Discussion ThreadsThe following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.- Stiff lower back in the morning: It sounds like you accept the TMS diagnosis, and are definately doing the right thing by not fearing the pain and pushing on through. On the other hand, seeing a TMS doc for "free" sounds like a good opportunity.
- Is back surgery sometimes necessary for large herniated discs?: I read Dr. Sarno's book five times and was a believer in TMS until I saw an MRI of my back 1 month ago. I was having severe pain in my legs and back after shoveling snow. On the MRI, my L4 -L5 disc was herniated to the point of almost completely BLOCKING the spinal canal.
- The Presence Process and TMS: Maybe the first time you do the Presence Process it's out of NECESSITY. Then maybe subsequent journeys through the PP are motivated by the recognition that there are deeper benefits to be gained.
- Anger generating more anger: Dr A told me that he believes it's more important to be compassionate, and that Dr Sarno was coming round to that way of thinking. I've used anger on occasion and it has helped but I think in the long term it's more important to be kind to yourself.
- Doubts about Sarno’s method: I can say though for myself, I did not have doubts as the only other options before me were lie here in pain or have back surgery. I chose to immerse myself in reading daily and writing a lot to clear out years of emotional trash. It worked and I was back to work and living a fun life.
