I enjoyed meeting many of you at the last 2 TMS conferences, and was disappointed that there is no conference planned for this year. (Howard Schubiner and Alan Gordon did such a great job the last 2 years.) So I ran across this conference, The Wise Heart & the Mindful Brain, Buddha Meets Neurobiology, with Jack Kornfield and Dan Siegel at NYU, April 29-30. It sounds like a topic that many of us would be interested in. (Their websites are http://www.jackkornfield.org/ and http://drdansiegel.com/ ) People have been saying we should meet again in New York City, and this may be the opportunity to do that. If anyone else is planning to attend, perhaps we could meet Friday or Saturday night and catch up with each other. Perhaps we could even drop in on Dr. Sarno.

For those of us trying to convince others on the PainSupport Forum it seems to be that we are just ' Putting their backs up' excuse the choice of words, as we will get the 'consious' message there but unfortunately many on the pain support site do not appear to even be open to an alternative of the indoctrinated medical consultant with his MRI evidence, its very sad but I for one am going to stop trying although I have just sent a couple of lines in response to thier thread that Panda started on their, well done though P it was a good try there might be one or two that listen, Theres a saying by Budda that says ' When you are ready the teacher will appear, perhaps as individuals they are simply not there yet, and may never be.

Could this be a promising sign, reported in the New York Times?
http://health.nytimes.com/ref/health/healthguide/esn-backpain-ess.html "With all the uncertainties surrounding medications and surgery, it’s little wonder that many physicians have fallen back on noninvasive, traditional approaches to easing the pain, like exercise or counseling. This year the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, which oversees doctors’ training programs, began requiring that residents who want to become pain specialists study not only anesthesiology but also psychology, neurology and rehabilitative medicine. Indeed, many back pain specialists are now evaluating their patients daily exercise habits and emotional stresses. The new standards are a small step, but one reflective of the growing realization that pain, in all its forms, must be approached more holistically."
