TMS Discussion Threads
The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.

  • Sacral torsion cause: could it be structural?: I've been a little afraid of journaling because I'm scared that I'll get another physical symptom and that always worries me and feeds right back into my anxiety and the vicious loop continues. This time I'm trying to break that cycle and tell myself that it is TMS.

  • Agreeing on the physical cause of stress-induced syndromes: To gain acceptance by the medical profession we should insist on evidence before making any claims about physiology while simultaneously pointing out that we already know how to help people with this condition, even without fully understanding it.

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder: One idea I have had about confronting the fear/anxiety involved with TMS/PPD is to practice some form of mindfulness or meditation. Mindfulness is basically focusing on the present moment instead of what has happened or what may happen.

  • Importance of not working too hard at recovery from TMS: I'm finally realizing that I really don't let my body feel. My mind generally takes over, rationalizes a feeling as silly, and shoves it down (presumably where it hurts). He's trying to teach me to let my body take the lead because that's where honest and true reactions come from.

  • The Presence Process: an extension of Eckhart Tolle: the presence process is not about feeling good(although eventually i suspect you will), it is about feeling what you feel.

JanesWriting Dr Schubiner's online program 7 Dec 13 2010, 9:20 AM EST by ForestForTreesTMS

Hi all,

I have been seriously considering undertaking Dr Schubiner's online program corresponding to the "Unlearn Your Pain" book. However, $250 is a lot of money for someone who is barely able to work 10 hours a week on a good week. My health is worth it, even though it makes things financially tight, so I just wanted to ask you good folks a few questions.

Does anyone have experience with the online program, and was it indeed a life-changing experience? Does anyone have any idea of the relative benefits of doing the online course, compared to just working through the book alone? Could I expect just as good results by working through the book instead?

My counsellor has given me her blessing to do this program if "I" feel it will be of benefit, but I'd like to make sure I'm not going to do myself more harm than good.

If these questions have been asked and answered elsewhere, I'd truly appreciate being directed to the right place, and ask your patience if I have retravelled old ground. It is certainly new to me!

Blessings,
Jane

Do we have any idea of when the results of this research will be available?
