TMS Discussion Threads The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you to visit our new forum instead. - Disc Extrusions of 6-7 mm: "I was wondering if any one has had positive results with TMS with an MRI showing disc extrusions of 6-7mm. I am in the throes of back pain, sciatica, numbness and some weakness of right lower extremity. I fit the profile of Sarno's patients. I have had exacerbations of sciatica and back pain on and off for 20 years but recent MRI showed not "" bulging, or protrusions"" but extrusions. I had an MRI back in 1989 that revealed only bulging. Any input would be appreciated."
- Another syndrome name: "This is going to be super challenging, but what is it going to take to get at least the TMS docs to agree on one name for tension induced pain? I notice Dr. Schubiner's name for TMS is MBS - Mind Body Syndrome. Brady names it AOS - Autonomic Overload Syndrome. I understand these guys want to promote their program and it can increase exposure for Tension Induced Pain - TIP - LOL! Ultimately it causes confusion for the patient. Anyone have thoughts on this or is it - Any attention/exposure is good exposure?"
- TMS Victim? Please read my struggle and comment: "Hello everyone, would like to introduce myself. My name is Brian Jackson, I am 22 years old and currently suffering terrible RSI pain in my right arm, hand, wrist, and fingers (or at least what I thought was RSI). Have had numbness, tingling, sharp stabbing pain, aching, you name it."
- Why do some people not get on with Dr Sarno's method?: "For many people Dr Sarno’s approach has literally given them back their lives – some just by reading his books, others by following a Mindbody programme based on his principles and yet others simply by following his instructions by themselves. But there remains a worrying ‘tail’ of people who don’t make the progress – who knows how many because we don’t necessarily hear from them? – and some of them end up feeling even worse because it’s yet another thing that has raised their hopes, only to dash them again."
- The Presence Process: "For those people considering the Presence Process I just wanted to tell you what I learned along the way...PP helped me to understand “Why does this keep happening to me?” And how to do something about it. PP helped me understand that I should not ignore the physical or emotional pain, or fear it, resist, or sedate it (with drugs or alcohol). It suggests that we should feel our pain and discomfort rather than running from it. I now understand that TMS was my body’s way of getting my attention so that I could get my life in balance."
