TMS Discussion Threads The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you to visit our new forum instead. - Disc Extrusions of 6-7 mm: I fit the profile of Sarno's patients.I have had exacerbations of sciatica and back pain on and off for 20 years but recent MRI showed not " bulging, or protrusions" but extrusions. I had an MRI back in l989 that revealed only bulging. Any input would be appreciated.
- Should I cancel/postpone my back surgery?: Having a doctor of licensed physiotherapist that understands TMS look over your medical records, examine you, and take a medical history and THEN explain that what you are worried about is just TMS can make a HUGE difference in accepting the diagnosis.
- Difficult relapses from Tension Myositis Syndrome: Talk about finding yet another reason to feel bad about yourself.....why can't I cure myself of this when so many people have, and the books make it sound so easy???? I literally had a huge increase in pain about 2 months into the program.
- Scheduled for surgery, but it could be TMS: Our belief system can be extremely powerful, so it might be worth asking yourself ' What do I believe is going to help me get better' This is where the placebo effect of surgery can come in if for example you believe that need to have an operation in order to get better.
- Doubts about Sarno’s remedies: When later I read Sarno´s books I was relieved at thinking it was psychosomatic and his emphasis on childhood rage and actual circumstances fitted in with my life and my views on psychotherapy.
