TMS Discussion ThreadsThe following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.- The stress of motherhood: "I think a parent should definitely play with the children, but not all the time!! I think it's healthier for mother and child to each have alone time. It allows the mother time to do adult things, and gives the child time to learn to be alone, and not have constant stimulation."
- Does knowing the physiology behind the syndrome really matter?: "it is great that for many people, like yourself, anecdotal evidence is sufficient to free them from their symptoms. But maybe more people would be convinced, and therefore benefit, if they could understand the physiology behind their suffering?"
- Did my anxiety cause my TMS?: "Very importantly, don't fear the pain, don't fight the pain, accept it, accept it's message. Allow yourself to FEEL the pain. It's something we never do, we fight it with every sinew of our body, but if we can learn to sit still and accept the pain as a messenger, it can really help."
- Getting RSI/TMS from masturbating too often: "Just like pain has a really powerful effect on us that allows our unconscious to use it to distract us, sex can be the same way. A great power to distract and therefore, a great way to escape something that we don't want to deal with."
- Advice on dealing with TMS in the form of sciatica: "I have suffered with sciatica for over 20 yrs., with bouts lasting months and even years, other times only a few days. When I read Sarno's books about 2.5 yrs. ago, I immediately felt better and hardly had any sciatic symptoms for many months afterward."
