TMS Discussion Threads
The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you to visit our new forum instead.

  • SCIATIC PAIN - LATEST UPDATE: Just wanted to let all of you who have encouraged me through all my endless tests for acute sciatica which has lasted a year, that I saw a 2nd neurologist last week, who assured me that neurologically I was 200% OK.

  • Susan Derozier, an expert in journaling, wrote us an email: Dear Susan, Thank you so much for sharing such sage advice about journaling. I journaled a few years ago, specifically to recover from TMS, and found it very beneficial, although sometimes journaling caused me to have to go thru more physical pain to get to the relief.

  • Throat pain and hoarseness: My symptoms worsen the more I sing. They also act up when I read out loud to my kids during their bedtime, which strikes me as tms since reading out loud is only talking, which I've been doing for a good deal of the day.

  • Another syndrome name: This is going to be super challenging, but what is it going to take to get at least the TMS docs to agree on one name for tension induced pain? I notice Dr. Schubiner's name for TMS is MBS - Mind Body Syndrome. Brady names it AOS - Autonomic Overload Syndrome.

  • The Presence Process and Trauma: I really like what he says about Inner Presence and Oneness and hope to keep that up. Also I want to practise the Emotional Cleansing Process more because there are always occasions that come up and not necessarily neatly in the sessions when they fall in the PP.

My psychologist uses Dr. Scaer's "Trauma Soma" as a basis for her treatment of my pain. How is that different than Dr. Sarno's? She also uses EMDR & brainspotting which I really love and believe in. Does anyone have an opinion on that with regard to TMS treatment?

What's the difference between conversion syndrome and TMS (in simple lay terms if possible!)?

This question arose as a result of pan (a TMSHelp forum user) posting a link to the following BBC article:
