TMS Discussion Threads
The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.

  • What will it take for TMS doctors to agree on one name?: Dr. Sarno makes a point in The Divided Mind that many patients would not have sought psychotherapy were they not seeking physical symptom relief. There is a danger in labeling psychosomatic symptoms with current DSM-IV diagnoses.
  • Writing about feelings: If this tension, this rage is meant to be unconscious, how come some of us actually know the source already? I too have felt that I have eaten some of my worms (thanks Tiger for this lovely metaphor) only to find they've reincarnated themselves.
  • TMS Victim, on my way to recovery: I think the crucial element for us TMSrs, with the development of ANY symptom, be it TMS or purely physical, is our reaction to it. That said, having had chronic pain such as yours, would understandably cause you to worry or be discouraged about a new symptom.
  • Somatic Experiencing, from Peter Levine’s Healing Trauma: I too am aware that I have a tendency to become 'obsessed' with books and information to help me 'find the reason for my pain'. I now aim to move away from Intellectualising and searching for the 'perfect' answer rather than accepting and allowing feelings.
  • Anger begets anger, right?: If our brain is our body, our body our brain, why are we fostering a dichotomy that doesn't exist? For me, the symptoms seem to subside (but do not go away) when I just let them be. When I trust my health and strength. When I get angry at my brain, the pain increases. Anger, after all, begets anger.

i just added a book page for Rapid Recovery From Back and Neck Pain, by Fred Amir, and was wondering if anyone has read it. I would really like to add some brief reviews or blurbs about the book to the page, so if you have any thoughts about the book just post them and someone will add them to the page. Also, if you have read check out the page and add anything to it that you think is needed.
