TMS Discussion Threads
The following is a list of links to some of the better discussions from our old forum. However, we encourage you tovisit our new foruminstead.

  • Can of worms: "I am a new member who has just started journalling. I am using the suggestions from the website Unlearn your Pain. I have begun listing and and detailing my experiences such as illness or death in family. I feel like I could write extensively about everything on the list."
  • Should I go through with my back surgery?: "Sometimes, when people have surgery, their pain seems to resolve in that location, however, mysteriously, they develop pain at another level of their spine, or another area of their body. This is simply the psychogenic pain moving locations. Dr. Sarno calls it symptom imperative."
  • sciatica again: "My back has been great. About two weeks ago my pain was gone. I had no trace of sciatica or back pain, but I started to have panic attacks and extreme anxiety. I relate this to the fact that the anniversery of my first wife's death from cancer was this week."
  • Can a structural problem resolve and TMS start in location?: "Everyone I've seen in the medical community believes my situation started with an injury, but nothing shows up on tests. Is it possible that it did start with an injury which has since healed, but TMS has caused me to continue to feel pain? Or maybe it's been TMS all along."
  • Somatic Experiencing, from Peter Levine’s Healing Trauma: "I too am aware that I have a tendency to become 'obsessed' with books and information to help me 'find the reason for my pain'. I now aim to move away from Intellectualising and searching for the 'perfect' answer rather than accepting and allowing feelings."
